It is the year 410 AD, and disaster has struck the Roman province of Britannia. The Roman legions, for three centuries the guardians of peace and bringers of prosperity, have been recalled to Rome, leaving Britain defenseless.
Across the narrow stretch of sea that divides Britain from Gaul and those areas outside Roman domination lie the territories of the warrior tribes known as the Angles, Saxons and Jutes. With the Romans gone, there is nothing to stop these barbarians from flooding into the peaceful realm of Britain, bringing with them fire and sword and blood.
In the turmoil that ensues, one man takes a stand against the falling darkness. One man defends civilization against chaos. For one brief, shining moment, the world can see that terror can never overcome love, chaos never destroy order, violence never crush the light of the human spirit.
The man was called Arthur.
